That doesn't do anything for the plot! Shizuka did not have to be the main villain. These problems happened because there was too much focus on CrossWorlds. It served an important purpose: To give Lea something to live for. If the bosses and encounters were like that the whole game, it would have been very fun. This extremely important relationship should have been tested to its limit by keeping Emily resentful towards Lea for ditching the raid. It just felt like it would have been more interesting if you went that direction. Shizuka is absolutely LIVID about Lea, her existence, and how Lea's existence in of itself was an insult to injury. I was not expecting it to be great at all considering my expectations were geared towards bullet hell/puzzle gameplay and the RPG aspect was just a story element, but it was very barren and simplistic. As for pacing: CrossCode's story was challenging to do as we had to balance two stories in parallel and yeah, maybe the pacing could have been more interesting by having Lea's plot intersect more with the MMO plot, but I think it would have easily lead to sacrifices of either plausibility (the fact that Lea can run around freely in an MMO for some time underlines the fact that the antagonist can't just interfere anyway they want which is exactly the kind of "power" I wanted to portrait) or freedom of gameplay (the overall game would have likely turned out more linear). Who is Sergey and why is he putting so much time into me? I know you say it isn't explicitly mentioned that Lea was made without Shizuka's consent, but you very well could have written that in and have it readily accepted, it's also kinda implied too I mean why would she want Lea dead? This was easily doable because it seemed like Lea was ghosting Emily(due to being online and not responding to messages) and giving Emily doubt on her relationship.

(Lachsen writing here)Well, those are certainly a lot of opinions.Just a few comments to that: Emilie & Lea never making up is a plot development you tend to see in a lot of stories, a so called "artificial tragedy due to misunderstandings & a lack of communication", which to some extend makes sense since Lea can't speak, but it doesn't change the fact that I very much despite these kind of plot developments if they linger for too long. All it does is either make fights too difficult or too trivial.

A bad ending occurs if Lea does not meet Ivan Vestorovich, or if Lea does meet him but fails his Turing test.
