Everything I said about Alps applies here but this is even more raw with even less of a budget, and Yorgos with shaky handheld shots is somehow even more unnerving than usual. I was honestly shocked to find out this was made by Yorgos after leaving the theatre. The usual weird, intriguing details are floating about but they don’t cohere like they do in his other films. I'm glad Lanthimos got better. By introducing the one-sided romance subplot and placing the photographer as fulfilling a recurring fantasy of caregiver, without overstepping into overtly sexual conduct,  an unusual depiction of emotional connection is crafted. I first saw this at 2:30am, on my phone and while sharing a single bed with my at the time girlfriend with the film nearly on mute as to not wake her up, in those circumstances I felt I was missing something, today that proved to be true. As per his later films, Lanthimos also comments on gender roles here, with the cast almost entirely male save for Randou’s character, who is almost always the victim in their various re-enactments.
