I found it to be a compelling story, well told. Unfortunately, the actual dance performances in "Save the Last Dance" (at least the ones by the main character, and especially her climactic dance sequence) were surprisingly flat. Pretty creative piece.

The story, while dealing with difficult subject matter was, was enjoyable and hopeful. so love her movies. I enjoyed the interpersonal relationships in this movie as well as the dancing. Travelling or based outside United States? I tend to like movies where I see growth and transformation in the characters and I liked that the main character challenges the people around her as they challenge her in a new way. I will go back to it periodically. She is forced to engage in new things and they are challenged to accept her but as all of this unfolds you see her growing up and her closest friends and meanwhile, she's training to perform her audition at Juliard and you can see her growth just alone in her dance.
