I think he was definitely aiming for something very specific with Showgirls and it didn’t come out quite the way he intended. “I feel like Showgirls is so much about the audience response and our relationship to it. And, as its name suggests, the TV movie saw the show’s romantic leads, Zack and Kelly, walk down the aisle together. The real power lies with the men running the racket.

And certain stars of the series have continued to embrace their Saved by the Bell past in a musical theatre parody of the show that opened in 2013. The crowd goes wild. We’re not done with it. Yet the Bayside High crew’s story didn’t end when they graduated at the end of the fourth season. The way that it’s so bad…a lot has to do with the production and what went behind it.
